Tsai has no convenient ocean barrier to stop the onslaught of its polar icecap, so from one age to another it has advanced and retreated at will over the broad northern plains of Mir, giving the world a more continuosly varying sea level than earth. Ancient Phthonian cities from time before the Great Dark Ages are still believed to exist beneath the Icecap of Cnaphtha, while the fertile fields and woodlands around the Cooraban Sea were buried beneath hundreds of meters of ice when the Zamylos arrived on T’sai. The Holy City of Dara-Zam, on the south-eastern coast of Mir, once commemerated the site of that vessel’s arrival, but now it has been sunk beneath the sea for millenia.
The Nathians and Fip are the dominant races of the North of Mir; to the south, the great plateau of Ashad is the heartland of the Argandarr, while the eastern deserts and thorn forests are spangled with the resinous cities of the D’nar.
