Not one palace, but nearly thirty, this sprawling part of the city is home to the Emperor, his family, his favourites, many folk of noble birth from other parts of the Empire obliged by him to live there for reasons of public order, innumerable priests, servants, and bondsmen, and the greater part of the serving soldiery of Ag Darxes. The parks and palaces are sumptuous, and have been added to generation after generation according to no particular plan, making it a city within a city.
