Like Hasaba, Karad is an independent Barony within the Empire. From time to time throughout its history it has been variously a vassal of Zagath and Kitaba. The western part is taken up by the Dragon's Bone Mountains, and the east by flat, treeless grassy country giving way to barren desert in the extreme south. It is a dry, dusty, and feral place, the fierce and unforgiving people known as the Karadis dwelling mainly in the dry forests of the Dragon's Bone mountains or two small pockets along the coast where curious crops are grown with salt water.
