A pleasant land of sweet smelling subtropical woodlands, lying between the low hills known as the heights of Lhom and the Bay of Malash. It has no major rivers, but a multitude of perennial streams running down from the hills. It is about 200 km long and 40 wide, and was the last Tixryni speaking region to be conquered by the empire. Formerly it was divided into four city states - Pirathu, Sarthu, Alomu, and Gantu; but now it forms a barony of the empire ruled from Alom Hev. Lhomish folk are olive skinned, pragmatic, and industrious, and have always been prosperous through trade upon the sea and fiercely proud of their little nations. The rural parts are home to 90 000, almost completely Lhomish. Many are fisherfolk, others grow subsistence crops, and most are fairly poor owing to the poor quality of the soil. Great numbers are supported solely by relations working in the cities of Lhom or elsewhere in the Empire. There are a few vineyards in the hills, safflowers and poppies are grown for oil, and onyx and carnelian are mined in the hills behind Pirathu. There were formerly stands of amandelwood, but these are now exhausted. The floral emblem of Lhom is the poppy, and the herald a triton with a silver hammer on a green field.
